The forehead is one of the most prominent places for wrinkles to appear. Once skin begins to age, it loses elasticity because of decreased collagen production, and other factors, such as smoking, malnutrition, sun overexposure, chronic stress and environmental pollutants, also contribute to forehead wrinkles. There are a variety of treatments depending on your personal preference and severity of wrinkles.
Step 1
Get Botox injections, one of the most popular treatments for getting rid of forehead wrinkles. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, or AAD, Botox injected into particular facial muscles reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Botox eliminates forehead creases, crow's feet and eyebrow furrows. Injections typically are repeated every four to six months.
Step 2
Get a brow or forehead lift. This is a surgical procedure that corrects drooping eyebrows and forehead lines for a younger, healthier appearance. The surgery must be done only once and takes less than an hour.
Step 3
Use laser resurfacing to smooth out forehead wrinkles. Since the FDA approved this procedure more than a decade ago, it is widely used for wrinkle treatments. A beam of light is used on damaged skin, removing this layer and promoting extra collagen production. Depending on how severe your forehead wrinkles are, you might need to undergo multiple treatments.
Step 4
Contact a plastic surgeon to see if you are a candidate for face-lift surgery. This is the most drastic and expensive form of wrinkle treatment, but the results can last up to 10 years or more. Small incisions are made in the hairline to reduce the appearance of scarring, then skin is stretched out. This gives your face a smooth, youthful look. This type of surgery must be done only once.
