Pack up your camping gear and hit the trails in the Hocking Hills. Escape to the dense forests and outdoor attractions which permeate the southern Ohio region. Pitch a tent inside the state park and stay a stone's throw away from Old Man's Cave and Cedar Falls. Choose a commercial campground and sleep under the stars while still enjoying modern amenities and campground entertainment offerings.

Regional Attractions

The Hocking Hills region stretches through four southern Ohio counties. Hike past waterfalls and take a canoe trip down the Hocking River in the northern section of the region. Lake Hope State Park and the Moonville Rail Trail, located in the southern section feature mountain biking and horseback riding trails. Tar Hollow State Park in the western section of the region offers fishing on Pine Lake and public hunting grounds. You can soak up some Appalachian culture and history at the Robbins Crossing living history complex in the eastern section of the Hocking Hills region.

Northern Region

Camp inside the Hocking Hills State Park and awaken to the sounds of waterfalls and passing hikers. The campground consists of 156 tent camping sites with electricity. Each of the campsites features a concrete pad. In addition to the electric-enabled sites, 13 primitive tent sites are also available. Family and large group camping sites offer multiple concrete pads and pit latrines. Registered campers have complimentary access to the bathhouse, playground, picnic shelters, dump station and Hocking Hills State Park Lodge swimming pool.

Southern Region

Lake Hope State Park campground offers standard, primitive and horse-friendly campsites. Primitive campsites offer pit latrines. The 192 campsites with electricity feature a concrete pad. Located in the southern section of the region, campers have immediate access to the beach swimming area, bathhouse, shelter houses, mountain bike trails and the historic Hope Furnace.

Western Region

Tar Hollow State Park offers 71 campsites with electricity, 23 non-electric campsites and five primitive campsites. Located in the western section of the Hocking Hills region, campers are within 15 minutes of Chillicothe and the outdoor drama, "Tecumseh." Campground amenities include a bathhouse, laundry facilities, swimming beach, general store with a game room and boat rentals.

Southwestern Region

Camp in a secluded section of the Lake Alma State Park and awaken to the sounds of birds chirping and dogs enjoying the pet-friendly swimming beach. Located in the southwestern section of the region, Lake Alma campground amenities include paddle boat rentals, a swimming beach, gazebo and shelter houses and a playground area. Campers can elect to pitch a tent on a concrete pad at one of the 72 campsites with electricity.
