Pimple scars are fairly common among former sufferers of moderate to severe acne, and they can be extremely embarrassing and uncomfortable for those that have them. While there are surgical and medical treatments for acne scars like microdermabrasion and excision, there are also natural home remedies that can help to get rid of pimple scars, according to Julia Lawless, author of "The Encyclopedia of Essential Oils: The Complete Guide to The Use of Aromatic Oils In Aromatherapy, Herbalism, Health and Well Being."

Step 1

Combine ½ tsp. white camphor essential oil, ½ tsp. Roman chamomile essential oil, ½ tsp. elemi essential oil, ½ tsp. rosewood essential oil, ¼ tsp. yarrow essential oil, ¼ tsp. lavender essential oil and ¾ cup olive oil in a small container with a tight-fitting lid.

Step 2

Cover the container and shake the mixture for 10 to 15 seconds to combine the ingredients.

Step 3

Pour a small amount of the essential oil mixture onto a clean cotton pad. Dab the cotton pad on the affected area and leave it on your skin for 20 minutes.

Step 4

Rinse your skin with lukewarm water and pat dry with a clean towel. Wash your skin with a gentle cleanser and apply your regular moisturizer if you use one.

Step 5

Use this treatment twice per day as long as it doesn't bother your skin. Stop using the mixture if it causes any sort of irritation including redness, itching or swelling.

Step 6

Store unused portions of the essential oil mixture in a cool, dark place or in the refrigerator for 60 days. Throw the mixture away after 60 days if not completely used.

Tips and Warnings

  • Therapeutic-grade essential oils are best for skin and hair care purposes. They often cost more than regular essential oils, but they offer more benefit to the end user. Test the essential oil mixture on a small patch of skin that is not easily visible before applying it to a larger section of skin, as there is some possibility of allergic reaction with any new treatment.
