Trampolines and Exercise

A trampoline is a circular apparatus with legs that has a strong mesh surface that you stand on to perform various movements. You can use larger ones in yards, gyms or schools. Small ones are made for indoor home use. Some trampolines even float on water. Exercises that can be performed on the trampoline are similar to the ones you would perform on solid, non-moving ground.

Significance

When you are overweight, you have an increased risk of developing a debilitating disease like diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or cancer. Trampoline exercise can help aid in weight loss, which can prove pivotal in your fight against chronic conditions.

Function

Running, biking, swimming, elliptical training, rowing, swimming and walking are all types of cardiovascular training. They are all effective types of exercise, but they can become tedious after a while. The function of a trampoline is to give you another option to use in place of these conventional exercises. You can also use the trampoline as a warm-up for weight training routines or you can integrate it into a circuit (see link in Resources).

Types

The types of exercise you can do on trampolines are endless. You can walk or run in place. You can hop in the air with both feet together and do leaping exercises. You can also lift weights while you stand on it. All these exercises will help improve your balance due to the unstable nature of the trampoline.

Rebounder

A rebounder is a small version of a trampoline that has become popular in recent years. They measure about 3 feet in diameter and are 9 inches tall. Some of them come equipped with a safety handrail that makes them safe for elderly people or people rehabbing from an injury. This type of trampoline can be effective at getting kids to exercise because it is fun and provides a good cardiovascular workout.

Identification

The lymph system is composed of lymph glands. Its main job is to rid the blood of toxins. When you do jumping exercises like rope jumping, for example, lymph drainage is promoted. This type of exercise, however, comes at a cost to your joints. Jumping on a trampoline, however, can give you the same effect without the excessive impact on your joints.

Benefits

Trampolines have more benefits than just aiding in weight loss. Exercising on them improves circulation and cardiovascular health, reduces fatigue, improves coordination and helps to tone your muscles. They are also easy to use. There are no complicated controls and buttons to push to get a workout.
