Most people can get the nutrients they need from eating a balanced diet, but dietary supplements may provide health benefits for certain individuals. According to the Mayo Clinic, whole foods are the best sources of nutrients because they have a variety of nutrients. If you are going to take a dietary supplement, a liquid whole food product may be a good option for getting extra nutrients without needing to swallow pills.

Multivitamins

If you do not get your vitamins from foods in your diet, another option is to get them from a supplement with whole food ingredients. Nature's way makes Alive Liquid Multi, which provides at least 100 percent of the daily value for all of the vitamins and some essential minerals. This supplement has juices from 24 fruits and vegetables including plums, berries, cabbage and kale. It has a green foods juice powder blend with cilantro and spirulina, among other whole foods, and organic mushrooms compose its defense blend for the immune system. Nature's Way claims that this formula contains energizing botanicals. It also has antioxidants from hesperidin, a citrus bioflavonoid and essential fatty acids from sunflower and flax oils. The Food and Drug Administration has not assessed the effectiveness or safety of this dietary supplement.

Children's Daily

Some liquid whole food supplements are for children. For example, Nature's Plus makes Source of Life Animal Parade Liquid. This liquid supplement has a tropical berry flavor with fructose as a sweetener. It provides 100 percent of the daily value for all of the essential vitamins except for folic acid and biotin. It also provides choline and para-aminobenzoic acid, as well as the minerals iron, zinc and copper. This formula has concentrates from 11 whole foods. The fruits and vegetables include pineapple, apple, papaya, broccoli and spinach. Other whole food ingredients are sunflower oil and brown rice. The FDA has not evaluated this supplement, and you should always consult a physician before giving your children dietary supplements.

Herbal Compound

Some herbal supplements have liquid whole foods in them. Herb Pharm makes Healthy Heart Tonic. The purpose is to support heart function and healthy circulation, although the company does not explain the possible ways in which the supplement works. This mixture has hawthorn berry, leaf and flower; cactus flower and stem; ginger rhizome; and motherwort leaf and flower. The ginger is certified organic. Other whole food liquid supplements from Herb Pharm include the sugar metabolism compound with blueberry and beanpod; a nervous system tonic with celery and oak; and a liver tonic with fennel seed. The FDA has not evaluated these health claims, and you should consult a doctor before taking dietary supplements for a health condition.
