Browning designed the Rage bow as a beginner-friendly bow that experienced shooters can also use. The Rage is offered in a variety of draw weights--50, 60 and 70 lbs.---to match the needs of the individual shooter. The bows also come in "field-ready" kits with the accessories needed for bowhunting. But before hitting the field, you must choose the proper arrows to fit the bow.

Step 1

Measure the length of the arrow. The length of the arrow needed will depend on the draw length of the Rage. Attach a full-length arrow to the bowstring and come to full draw.

Step 2

Mark the required arrow length with a permanent marker at least 1 to 2 inches in front of the bow. Measure the distance from the mark to the nock with a tape measure. Use an arrow saw to cut the arrows to the required length.

Step 3

Use the arrow selection chart from the arrow manufacturer. Choosing arrows is typically dependent on the weight of the field point or broadhead and the draw weight of the bow. The arrow selection chart will be set up on a table grid with the point weight across the top and the draw weight along the side. Select the corresponding numbers and move across the row and column until the numbers intersect.

Step 4

Shoot the recommended arrow through a paper tuner. Paper tuners are designed to show how an arrow is flying after release and will indicate if the arrow is too stiff or too light. If you have a "left" tear where the back of the arrow is flying left of the front, you will need a stiffer shaft. For a "right" tear, you will need a weaker shaft.

Tips and Warnings

  • Always inspect the arrows before shooting for straightness, damage or cracks.
