According to MayoClinic.com, the most beneficial medical and surgical treatments for wrinkles are dermabrasion, microdermabrasion, laser treatments, tissue fillers, chemical peels and face lifts. However, there are some home remedies that can help to get rid of wrinkles, and they can be made fairly quickly at home for your first use according to Julia Lawless, author of "The Encyclopedia of Essential Oils: The Complete Guide to The Use of Aromatic Oils In Aromatherapy, Herbalism, Health and Well Being."
Step 1
Combine the orange blossom, palmarosa, rose, sandalwood, spikenard essential oils and the coconut oil in a small bottle or container.
Step 2
Cover the container and shake it for 10 to 15 seconds to combine the ingredients.
Step 3
Pour a small amount of the mixture onto your fingertips. Gently massage the oil onto wrinkled skin for two to three minutes.
Step 4
Leave the essential oil mixture on your skin for 30 minutes. Rinse with cool, clean water.
Step 5
Wash your skin with a gentle cleanser and apply your regular moisturizer. Avoid contact with any materials or clothing until your moisturizer fully dries.
Step 6
Repeat this treatment daily for as long as necessary. Stop using the mixture if you notice any irritation including redness, swelling or itching.
Step 7
Keep unused portions of the mixture in a cool, dark and dry place between uses. Make sure the oil is covered when not in use.
Tips and Warnings
- Therapeutic-grade essential oils are best for skin and hair care purposes according to Ann Worwood, author of "The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy." Therapeutic-grade essential oils are often more expensive than standard essential oils, but they offer the most benefit. If you cannot find them in a local health food store you can order them from numerous specialty retailers online.
