How to Pick Up a Golf Ball With a Wedge

Golf can be an exciting game when you are in the middle of a match or a tournament and each shot can mean the difference between winning and losing. Every golfer knows, however, that there can be a lot of down time in any round when you are waiting between shots and between holes. In order to relieve the boredom, you might want to do a couple of trick with your clubs and the golf ball. One that many golfers can learn is picking up a ball with a wedge.

Step 1

Pick up your pitching wedge and hold it in your dominant hand. Stand to the left of your golf ball, if you are right-handed.

Step 2

Place the outside portion of your right foot to the left of the golf ball. Your foot will serve as your base when you use the club to lift it.

Step 3

Place the blade of your wedge next to the golf ball. Slide the blade directly under your ball. You should feel your club directly against the right side of your foot and the ball should be balanced on the face of the club.

Step 4

Lift your wedge up straight with a strong pull of your wrist. As you do this, the ball should fly up in the air and allow you to take your left hand and catch it easily. You should be able to master this trick in a matter of minutes.

Step 5

Juggle the ball on the face of your club. When you lift the ball up in the air, don't reach over with your left hand and attempt to catch it. Instead, let it hit the face of the club again. You should be able to get the face of your wedge in a horizontal position. Once it hits directly, it should bounce straight up. Do this two or three times, and you will be "juggling" your golf ball.
