Losing weight can be a challenge, especially for anyone who finds themselves stuck in a fitness rut. Boot camp style workouts, whether outdoors or indoors, military style or more laid back, have become increasingly popular as people bored with traditional gyms seek out something more challenging.

Boot camp of course has a history in military training and across the country, fitness instructors have adopted these techniques to increase fitness, strength and endurance in regular gym goers. Each boot camp has varied methods but all of them hope to inspire members to push themselves to see the best results. Located near Chicago, these are five boot camps geared towards helping you reach your weight loss and fitness goals.

Fighting Fit 2 Bootcamp

Fighting Fit2 Boot Camp, located in Woodstock Illinois, is an outdoor boot camp (indoors during bad weather) that uses the same techniques athletes and pro fighters use in their own training. Created by Michael Massie, a fitness and self-defense instructor, this workout combines traditional outdoor fitness training with combat style training that's designed to get maximum results. Fighting Fit2 offers basic boot camp classes as well which are recommended for newbies but all recruits are encouraged to sign up for fighting classes once they've gotten the basics down. While combat methods are utilized, this class is not a fighting class and all fitness levels are encouraged to try it out. Classes run three to five days per week and new attendees are encouraged to attend at least three days. Fighting Fit2 also provides nutritional guidance. Sessions start at $600 and interested participants are encouraged to go online to their website to claim a VIP pass for one free class.

Bulldog Boot camp

Running stairs, beach workouts and polymetrics are also incorporated and any fitness level is encouraged to participate. Cost for attending each 4 week program is $195 for 5 days per week or $135 for 3 days per week (as of August 2010).
