Skating: there's something in it for everyone. Whether you want to strap on a pair of four-wheelers or sleek in-liners and make turns around the rink, or play ice hockey, figure skate, skate-board, or just watch other people do any of the above, the broad world of "skating" has something exciting for all types of tastes. If you're a skater or wannabe-skater in Eugene or nearby Springfield, you will enjoy the many options for learning how to skate, practicing your skills, and participating or spectating in skating events.

Public Skating and Lessons

Never tried skating before? Afraid you can't do it? Take a lesson and find out! At Lane Events Center in Eugene, lessons are frequently available for those interested in learning or improving their figure or ice skating skills.
Springfield's Skate World has a large roller rink open seven days a week to the public. While they don't offer classes, there's always the option of renting a pair of skates and teaching yourself the old fashioned way: live and learn.
For those interested in improving their roller derby skating skills, read about skate clinics in the "Roller Derby" section below.

Birthday Parties

Need a good way to entertain a handful of high-energy guests for your child's next birthday party? You may want to consider a skating party. Lane Events Center and Skate World offer birthday party packages for ice and roller skating.

Roller Derby

Like a blend of hockey and football, roller derby is a high-energy, high-impact all-female sport. This fascinating game can be enjoyed from the sidelines, particularly when you're rooting for Eugene's own Emerald City Roller Girls---who have reached local fame. However, if you're interested in joining or improving your roller derby skills, show up for a Skate Clinic with the Emerald City girls. See their website for more details.

Ice Hockey & Broomball

Looking to join a league or just play casual games? Either way, Lane Events Center offers a variety of options for the local skater. Programs are available for adult and youth teams, and individuals can improve their skills at a hockey clinic. Broomball lessons are available as well, and the rink can be rented for group games.

Skateboarding

In Eugene, a huge variety of skating options exist for those types of skaters who use a board. Which means if you're a local skateboarder, you're in luck. US Sportsplex features a large indoor skate park with custom ramps suitable for a range of skill levels. In addition, there are seven outdoor skate parks scattered around the city.
