The Tria laser hair removal product is supposed to stop hair growth so your skin remains hair-free, according to the Tria Beauty website. The Tria's laser targets the dark pigment in the hair and disables the hair follicle. This should cause the hair to fall out and not come back.
Uses
The Tria was the first at-home laser hair removal device the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved. It is for hair removal below the neck only. Results should be apparent after your third treatment, and you should be hair-free after eight treatments. It takes about 30 minutes to do one underarm area.
Limitations
Only people with light skin and dark hair see results, according to the Tria Beauty website. People with dark skin cannot use the Tria because dark skin may absorb too much heat. The Tria also doesn't work on gray, blond, light brown or red hair because lighter hair will not absorb enough laser light.
Cost
As of 2010, the Tria laser costs $495. The average cost nationally to professionally receive laser hair removal on your legs, underarms and bikini area costs $10,000 to $12,000, according to the Tria Beauty website.
