With obesity reaching staggering rates in the United States--nearly 34 percent of Americans are obese as of 2010, according to "The New York Times"--weight loss has become big business. Although diet and exercise are the recommended route for losing weight, you may find diet products, such as fat burners or meal replacements, can help accelerate your weight and fat loss. You should be aware that dietary supplements are not regulated by the FDA, so products may be ineffective or potentially dangerous. Consult a doctor before beginning a diet and before using any supplements.

Met-Rx Meal Replacement

According to online fitness and nutrition resource Bodybuilding.com, the Met-Rx Meal Replacement powder is a top-selling diet product. This product is intended to replace one of your larger meals and act as a healthier, lower calorie alternative. Met-Rx Meal Replacement contains 260 calories per serving, with 3g of fat, 19g of carbohydrates and 38g of protein. According to research from the March 2009 issue of the "International Journal of Obesity," consuming higher levels of protein than carbohydrates may aid in weight loss. The research found that low-fat, high-protein diet plans were more effective than low-fat, high-carbohydrate diets at managing weight.

Cytogenix Xenadine RZR-X

According to supplement retailer GNC, Cytogenix Xenadine RZR-X is one of the top-selling diet products. Xenadine RZR-X is classified as a thermogenic, which means it is intended to increase your metabolic rate, which may encourage your body to burn calories and fat. Xenadine RZR-X contains stimulants such as yohimbe and caffeine to provide energy and possibly increase your metabolism. In addition, herbal ingredients such as ginkgo, inositol and muira puama may also contribute to weight loss. Due to the stimulants in this product, it is not recommended to drink caffeinated beverages while using Xenadine RZR-X.

BodyWell Nutrition Tight Curves Protein

BodyWell Nutrition Tight Curves Protein is another top-selling meal replacement product, according to Bodybuilding.com. This product contains even fewer calories than Met-Rx's meal replacement, with 90 calories per serving. However, there is less protein in this product--15g. Tight Curves Protein does have far fewer grams of carbohydrates, with 3g of carbs and 2g of fat per serving. This high-protein product may help you lose weight when used as a substitute for a meal or snack.

Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals Fastin

Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals Fastin is another top-selling diet product, according to GNC. This product is a thermogenic diet pill and contains stimulants such as caffeine, synephrine and yohimbe, among other ingredients. One ingredient, theobromine, may also act as an appetite suppressant, according to the Weight Loss and Obesity Resource Center. This website claims that theobromine is a stimulant that also has diuretic effects similar to caffeine.
