After turning 30, you may have a difficult time eating right with all the demands of your everyday life, according to "Fitness Magazine." While dieting may have taken a back seat to jobs and children, it is still important to eat healthy. Diets for adults in their 30s should include a variety of foods from each of the food groups and aim at teaching you healthy lifestyle habits you can continue for the rest of your life.

USDA MyPyramid Plan

The United States Department of Agriculture's MyPyramid Plan is designed to help Americans maintain a healthy weight and prevent the onset of chronic disease. As you age, your metabolism decreases, making it harder to lose weight. Following the MyPyramid Plan will help you control caloric intake, while learning the basics of good nutrition. The plan includes a personalized diet based on your age, height, weight and activity level. It is a calorie-controlled diet with specific recommendations of what to eat from each group. The diet includes information on how to make good food choices from each group and ideas on how to prepare them. It also includes an online food diary called the MyPyramid Tracker to help you stay on course with food selections and calories.

Healthy Eating Pyramid

The Harvard School of Public Health Nutrition Department designed a food pyramid based on the most up-to-date nutrition and health information called the Healthy Eating Pyramid. The Healthy Eating Pyramid is designed to help you control your weight and eat better for good health. The foundation of the pyramid focuses on weight control and exercise. When you are concerned about your weight and exercise regularly you are more likely to eat better, according to Harvard. The diet itself emphasizes plant-based food such as whole grains, fruits and vegetables, healthy oils, legumes, nuts and seeds. If you eat meat, Harvard recommends eating more fish and poultry and less red meat. It also recommends severely limiting your intake of refined flours, sugary sodas and salty snacks.

Weight Watchers
