Testosterone is the predominant hormone in the process of developing male attributes. Masculine features such as genital maturation and facial hair growth need this key component for true manifestation. However, some men don't have the level of testosterone in their system that they optimally should, especially those who are less health conscious. Declining amounts of this hormone usually lead to aspects of male physiology being somewhat impaired. This problem need not be an ordeal. A mineral, commercially available as a dietary supplement, provides a very straightforward way to improve testosterone.
Step 1
Take a zinc supplement on a daily basis. This element is responsible for improving testosterone throughout the body more than any other. The University of Washington says, "Testosterone, the most effective anabolic our bodies naturally produces, is known to be closely interrelated with zinc." In addition, this powerful mineral is further used for boosting the immune system and assisting skin renewal.
Step 2
Use only the zinc citrate form. More zinc is actually absorbed with citrate than any alternative variant. Other widely used types of synthetic zinc are oxide, gluconate and sulfate. All three are inferior, as none is assimilated into the digestive system as efficiently as zinc citrate. If you decide to take a multivitamin and mineral pill instead of pure zinc, be sure to check for zinc citrate.
Step 3
Swallow tablets or capsules whole after eating a meal. The citrate form of zinc is an acidic compound and will create discomfort if it is not taken on a full stomach. Chewable zinc products exist, but are not easy to find. If taking your supplement proves problematic, select a different one containing calcium carbonate. The acidity will then be neutralized.
Step 4
Include plenty of pumpkin seeds in your diet. They are a potent food source of zinc and an essential co-factor. Consuming seed-enriched brown bread is the easiest way to obtain them.
Step 5
Allow ample time for testosterone levels to improve. The amount of this hormone will not explode abruptly overnight. The official website of the state of Idaho says, "Serum testosterone levels rise gradually, and a steady state is achieved after two to three days."
