New York Kayaking Trips

Whether you're looking to kayak in the Adirondacks area, the Hudson Valley, Long Island or Manhattan, there are several places to get your thrills on the water in the state of New York. Sea kayaking, river and lake kayaking are all possibilities depending on where you go. Tours, lessons and rentals can be found throughout the state.

New York City and Manhattan

The Manhattan Kayak Company operates out of the Hudson River, providing instruction, rentals, storage and more than 30 local tours. The Metropolitan Association of Sea Kayakers is a club that meets regularly to take trips together, practice skills and promote sea kayaking. The club does not supply lessons or equipment.

Westchester County

Hudson River Recreation provides instruction, equipment rentals and tours throughout the Hudson River, Tarrytown Lakes and Long Island Sound. They focus on ecologically friendly, sustainable kayaking, and they do corporate team-building tours as well.

Adirondacks

Adirondack Exposure offers rentals, group and private instruction, and guided tours in the Canadian Thousand Islands and the Adirondacks from May to October. You can combine kayaking trips with backpacking, whitewater instruction, mountain biking, hiking and fly fishing.

Long Island

North Atlantic Canoe and Kayak is a nonprofit organization based in Long Island that offers instruction and assessment for kayakers in the northeastern United States. They organize kayaking trips on the Nissequogue River, in Shinnecock Bay and various other locations.

Western New York

Based out of three locations near Rochester, Adventure Calls Outfitters operates tours in Letchworth State Park, Cattaraugus Creek and the Salmon River. They offer equipment, instruction for all levels and team-building challenges.
