The aloe vera plant is grown in most hot, tropical places around the world. Characterized by a clear gel inside its leaves, aloe vera has been used therapeutically for thousands of years, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center. Aloe vera is well known for its soothing properties and is applied to treat burns, skin rashes and other irritations. Consult your dermatologist before you attempt to use aloe vera gel to correct any skin condition.
Step 1
Break open an aloe vera leaf and apply the gel straight to your face as a moisturizer or to soothe minor skin irritations like razor burn. Rub the gel into your skin gently until it is absorbed.
Step 2
Mix aloe vera gel with equal parts olive oil and rosewater and a few drops of grapeseed oil to create a cleanser for your face. Keep the mixture in the refrigerator afterward for daily use.
Step 3
Prepare a solution of 2 tbsp. of aloe vera gel, 2 tbsp. of brown sugar, and 1 tsp. of lemon juice to gently exfoliate your face. Rub the mixture into damp skin for best results, advises the Why Aloe Vera website.
Step 4
Create a sea salt scrub using aloe by combining 2 cups of sea salt, 1 cup of aloe vera gel, 2 tbsp. of honey and 1 cup of baby oil. Mix the ingredients together well and rub into your face. The mixture will be coarse, so be gentle.
