How to Use an AirLife Inhaler

AirLife inhalation formulas include liquid saline and sterile water for the treatment of respiratory conditions such as asthma. The inhalant is administered through a nebulizer, which turns the solution into a fine mist by pushing oxygen through a compressor or sound vibration machine. AirLife inhaler compounds generally don't contain medication, but they are helpful in loosening and removing mucus from the lung by increasing the hydration levels.

Step 1

Connect the clear hose of the air compressor or sound vibration nebulizer. The tube is small and connects by pushing the end onto the protruding air nob of the nebulizer.

Step 2

Open the chamber that attaches to the mouthpiece. It is cylindrical and usually has a T-shaped component on the inside that helps distribute the solution. Twist off the mouthpiece in a counter-clockwise direction.

Step 3

Pour the AirLife inhaler contents into the chamber. Saline solutions from AirLife are available in 3 mL, 5 mL, 10 mL and 15 mL ampules, which are plastic bullet-shaped containers that house the solution. AirLife sterile water is available in prefilled kits between 500 mL and 2,000 mL.

Step 4

Replace the mouthpiece onto the chamber and turn it clockwise until it is tight. Turn on the nebulizer.

Step 5

Place the mouthpiece between the lips and firmly press the mouth around it. Breath through the mouth until all the solution in the chamber is gone and there is no longer a mist. Depending on the amount, this can take between 10 minutes to 30 minutes.

Step 6

Unscrew the mouthpiece and wash the chamber, tubes and mouthpiece under warm water. This prevents bacteria from growing in the items and preps it for future use. Let the items air dry before putting it away.
