Building bike ramps remains a prominent pastime for avid BMX riders. Many riders prefer to build a ramp themselves as opposed to paying to ride a professionally constructed ramp housed within a designated BMX park. BMX bikers can ride a homemade ramp at their leisure without having to worry about the time constraints and strict regulations that BMX parks often enforce. The BMX kicker ramp remains a basic yet versatile ramp that riders can use in a variety of ways. Bikers can use the kick ramp to jump over obstacles or utilize the ramp to slide down high rails.

Step 1

Measure 4 feet down the two pieces of 4-by-4 lumber. Draw a pencil mark in the middle of the two pieces. Cut the two 4-by-4 pieces in half, using the circular saw to make four pieces of 4-by-4 with a length of 4 feet.

Step 2

Lay one of the four newly cut pieces of 4-by-4 on a level surface. Apply the heavy-duty wood glue on the top surface of the 4-by-4 piece. Lower a second identical piece of 4-by-4 on top of the first to glue the pieces together. Lay the two pieces flat after giving the wood glue adequate time to dry.

Step 3

Apply the wood glue on top of a third piece of 4-by-4. Place the two 4-by-4 glued pieces on top of the third piece to build a structure that has a T shape. Flip the structure over after allowing the wood glue to dry.

Step 4

Place two of the six cinder blocks parallel to one another with 4 feet of space between them. Apply the construction-grade liquid adhesive on the top surface of the two parallel cinder blocks. Lower one cinder block on each of the two adjacent blocks to hold them together.

Step 5

Lower the side of the plywood sheet that has a length of 4 feet to rest on top of the two sets of aligned cinder blocks. Slide the upside-down T-shaped 4-by-4 structure under the inclined plywood toward the edge that touches the ground. Place the two leftover cinder blocks behind the 4-by-4 structure to build a strong base for the BMX kicker ramp.
