During shaving, cut hair may curl back into the skin and cause clogged follicles that become inflamed and infected. Bump Patrol is one of several products on the market aimed at preventing or relieving this condition, known as razor bumps.

Usage

Men or women can smooth Bump Patrol on after shaving or waxing the head, face, bikini-line, under arms and anywhere else that is prone to razor bumps or razor burn.

Ingredients

The treatment uses acetylsalicylic acid, known as AA, to cause gentle peeling of dead skin cells, releasing ingrown hairs. Chamomile reduces inflammation and soothes skin that was made sore during the shaving process. The sensitive skin formula excludes the use of alcohol, while the maximum strength formula includes witch hazel to increase the penetration of AA. Green tea, lavender and allantoin soothe, moisturize and promote healing of the skin.

Retailers

You may purchase Bump Patrol directly from the maker, M&M products, as well as through national retail outlets such as Walgreen's, Wal-Mart, Rite Aid, CVS or Family Dollar. Some Barber and Beauty Supply stores also sell it. In 2010, a two-ounce bottle of either formulation costs $8.99.
