Senna is a bitter herb indigenous to Turkey and the Nile region of Northern Africa. The herb is yellow to green in color and once dried it can be made into a tea to assist with weight loss. Senna activates the colon and expedites the removal of waste from the body. It is a powerful laxative and stool softener, so if you are looking for a fast way to drop a few pounds, senna is a relatively safe way to do it.
Step 1
Place ¼ tsp. of senna leaves in the bottom of a heat-resistant cup and fill with 8 oz. hot water. The water should be extremely hot but not boiling.
Step 2
Steep the tea for 10 minutes to achieve the required potency.
Step 3
Pour the tea through the strainer into the second cup. The strainer will remove the senna leaves.
Step 4
Drink the tea. Wait 10 to 12 hours for the senna tea to take effect.
Tips and Warnings
- Measure the dried herb carefully to ensure you are getting the proper dose. Too little can be ineffective and too much can cause cramping and stomach discomfort.
