The city of Las Vegas is known for its adult entertainment, with plenty of casinos, high-end restaurants and shows, but this does not mean your children have to be left out of the fun. Across Las Vegas, there are numerous summer day programs designed for children to have fun and to be active. These programs range from sports-centered to educational.

Fencing

For a special summer experience, have your child learn a new sport. At the Fencing Academy of Nevada Las Vegas, children ages 7 to 14 can spend the day learning how to fence. Children are separated into groups based on age and experience. No fencing experience is necessary. Children can learn épée, foil or sabre-style fencing. Sessions run Monday through Friday and are offered as morning and afternoon sessions.

Science

Children ages 4 to 12 can spend their summer days learning about animal biology, robotics, space and aviation at Mad Science. This weeklong summer program helps spark children's imagination and interest in science. The innovative activities are designed for recreation and excitement. The camp has several locations across Las Vegas.

Adventure Camp

At Las Vegas Extreme Camp, children spend their summer days hiking, bowling, rock climbing, playing laser tag, swimming, scuba diving and ice skating. Kids Entertainment operates this summer program, which is open to children from fourth to ninth grade. The program operates from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Extended care is available from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. This program runs from the first week of June through the middle of August.

Martial Arts

At Las Vegas Kung Fu Academy, children can learn martial arts from skilled instructors. The aim of this summer program is to help children gain agility, coordination, concentration, sportsmanship and to learn how to work together as a team. Camps run from early June to late August. The program is available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The program is open to children ages 3 to 13.
