Washing your hair after swimming is important in order to keep it healthy. Chlorine is a harsh chemical that causes damage to your hair. It can also turn blond hair a yellowish-to-greenish color if it's not removed. You can remove chlorine-treated water from your hair using products already in your home.

Step 1

Wash blond hair first with a generous amount of club soda to remove the chlorine-treated water from your hair. Complete the process by washing your hair using your regular shampoo and conditioner.

Step 2

Rinse your hair with apple cider vinegar to remove the chlorine from your hair. Wash your hair as normal afterward. Medium to long hair needs eight ounces of apple cider vinegar for effectiveness.

Step 3

Dissolve one aspirin in one cup of warm water. Massage the mixture into your hair and let it stand for five minutes. Wash your hair using your regular routine and rinse it thoroughly.

Step 4

Mix ketchup with your regular shampoo. Wash and rinse your hair thoroughly. Use tomato paste directly on your hair for tougher chlorine stains. Cover your hair with a shower cap for 10 minutes. Wash and rinse your hair following your usual routine.

Step 5

Combine 5 tbsp. baking soda with 2/3 cup of water and pour into an empty bottle. Shake the bottle to ensure contents are properly mixed. Wash your hair with regular shampoo and rinse. Apply the mixture to your hair and leave it on for 10 minutes. Rinse your hair thoroughly and proceed with your usual styling method.
