Losing weight can be challenging and frustrating. Making the decision to drop some pounds is a healthful and wise choice. In two weeks you can lose several pounds and begin to feel healthier and have more energy. Keep in mind a few simple tricks and you will be well on your way towards a new and slimmer you.

Trim Portion Sizes

According to Fred A. Stutman, author of "100 Weight Loss Tips That Really Work," the quickest way to lose weight is to take in fewer calories. You can put this tip to work by examining how much you eat at each meal as well as what you snack on throughout the day. You should eat three meals and two snacks per day for optimal health. Trim how much you consume each time you eat and you will begin to lose weight. Stutman recommends eating foods with protein and fiber to help you feel full longer. Try eating a hard-boiled egg or oatmeal with peanut butter for breakfast, a lean turkey sandwich on whole wheat bread for lunch and a salmon fillet with brown rice and spinach for dinner. Try nuts, air-popped popcorn or fresh fruits and vegetables as healthy snack options.

Replace Unhealthy Foods With Healthy Foods

Eating foods high in fat, calories and sodium will prevent you from jump starting your weight loss goals. Cutting out unhealthy foods will help you lose several pounds in just two weeks. Stutman recommends increasing your intake of fruits and vegetables while also decreasing how much prepackaged food, such as cakes, cookies and frozen dinners, you eat. Fruits and vegetables are filled with fiber, vitamins and minerals to give you energy and help you shed pounds. Replace fatty meats with lean choices, such as skinless chicken or turkey breasts, lean cuts of beef or pork and fish. Try eating more whole grains, such as whole wheat bread or cereal and brown rice instead of white bread and white rice.

Get Moving

In order to shed pounds you must burn more calories than you consume, says Stutman. Bob Harper, author of "Are You Ready!: To Take Charge, Lose Weight, Get in Shape, and Change Your Life Forever," adds that thirty minutes of exercise will help you burn calories so you can begin seeing the weight come off. Find an exercise, such as running, walking, swimming or riding a bicycle, that you enjoy and are willing to stick with. Harper writes that after two weeks you will likely view exercise as a new way of life and will be more likely to keep at it to lose even more pounds. Try checking out some exercise videos from your local library in you would prefer to exercise at home. Get moving and you can lose several pounds by the end of two weeks.
