Atlantic City might be a gambling destination for people on the East Coast, but there are also plenty of things for kids to do. From strolling along the famous boardwalk to enjoying the sun at one of the city's beaches, there are plenty of fun and healthy activities in Atlantic City for both kids and parents to enjoy.
Explore the Boardwalk
Walk the famous Atlantic City boardwalk and see the various attractions. Listen to an audio-guided walking tour that gives you insight into the history of the boardwalk. Play a spirited game of paintball or enjoy a video game at one of the arcades. Relax by enjoying a trip on a vintage rolling chair along the boardwalk.
Hit the Beach
Put on the sunscreen and enjoy Atlantic City's public beaches. Grab your board at one of the three beaches in Atlantic City that allow surfing, or go boogie-boarding at any beach in town. Go kayaking at the Jackson Street beach. Play a game of beach volleyball with friends, or jump in on a pick-up game.
Sports Activities for Kids
Lace up your blades and hit the ice at a local ice-skating rink like the Flyers Skate Zone. You can take to the rink for open public skating, or join a youth hockey league. Play a round of miniature golf on the boardwalk. Test your scaling abilities at the rock-climbing wall at the Steel Pier.
Visit a Museum
Enrich your knowledge of the area with a trip to the Atlantic City Historical Museum on the boardwalk. Pay your respects to fallen soldiers by visiting the New Jersey Korean War Memorial in Brighton Park. Enjoy some quiet moments of reflection while relaxing at the Civil Rights Garden and learn more about the quest for civil justice. Climb the 228 steps of the Absecon Lighthouse to get a great workout and see an amazing view of the area. Explore works of fine art at the Noyes Museum of art in nearby Oceanville, which specializes in American art.
Eat Healthy
Avoid fried foods and greasy pizza on the boardwalk and seek out healthier alternatives. Enjoy fresh fish and seafood, which offer lower calorie counts than meat. Eat wraps and crepes made with natural ingredients, or snack on a bowl of fresh fruit.
