In the state of Delaware, you'll find many weight loss and exercise programs at your disposal. There are some programs that combine both weight loss and exercise together, where a trainer or dietitian will take your measurements and you'll weigh in on a weekly basis as well. They'll also design an exercise program for you. Or, there are programs that are geared individually towards diet and weight loss, or are geared towards exercise and toning your body. Individual programs will focus on only one thing, such as weighing in, and forming a meal plan, or designing an exercise program for you and assisting you with learning different exercise movements.
Combined Weightloss and Exercise Programs
Most local gyms will offer personal training as well as having a dietitian on hand to develop a weight loss and exercise program that is specific to your needs. One gym in particular, Gold's Gym, located throughout Delaware, offers a Full-Body Makeover. If you are a woman, one option for both a weight loss and exercise program is Curves, a woman-only establishment with locations throughout the state. Curves offers 30-minute circuit training exercises that are simple to do and easy on joints. In addition, Curves representatives offer nutritional guidance, weekly measurements and weigh-ins. On its website, it has an abundance of articles geared towards your specific health needs.
Weigh Loss Programs
There are several weight loss programs in Delaware that meet in person to focus on diet, nutritional needs and losing weight. One of those programs is Weight Watchers. Members meet weekly in person for support from peers, nutritional guidance and weigh-ins. This is a peer supported group, with mentorship from those who've lost weight, and made up of of other people who are also trying to lose weight. The diet is based on eating healthy and learning new healthy habits. Several venues provide online weight loss support if you can't meet in person, including WeightWatchers.com, but also JennyCraig.com and Biggestloserclub.com, inspired by the hit television show, The Biggest Loser will also provide you with a fitness program.
Exercise Programs
For exercise programs and working with a fitness trainer, check out the local gyms near you. Additionally, your county's Recreation and Parks Department may offer local fitness classes to get you into shape. For a list of gyms and programs across Delaware, check out Delawareontheweb.com.
Considerations
There are several things to consider before deciding which program is right for you. Decide if you looking for peer support or if you would rather go it alone with only the guidance of a professional. Many people prefer to get exercise and diet information in one stop but it's an option to also have two different resources. If you have a basic knowledge of nutrition, you may even want to design your own diet program but seek the aid of a fitness trainer.
Warning
Always check with your physician before beginning any weight loss or exercise program. Certain medical conditions may require modification of diet and exercise.
