Parents should purchase a car seat in person. Some seats are heavy and bulky, and might not fit comfortably in your car. Ask the retailer to try it out in your car before purchasing. Installing a car seat can be tricky. If you have problems installing the seat, go to your local fire department, where fire fighters are trained to install car seats. Additionally, if you are purchasing an infant carrier, make sure you get the base, or you won't be able to properly or safely install the seat in your car.
