A varied selection of options is available to fade marks caused by scarring. Many of these treatments require a visit to a clinic--often on multiple occasions. Not everybody is comfortable enduring the cost and inconvenience of having to repeatedly meet with a specialist to get rid of their skin blemishes. However, fading scars at home can be achieved cheaply and easily.
Step 1
Take a vitamin E capsule each morning. Swallow it whole on an empty stomach to increase both the rate and degree of absorption into your skin tissues. According to Brown University, "some OTC treatments for early scarring include the use of vitamin E."
Step 2
Use only all-natural vitamin E. This is admittedly more expensive, due mainly to its collection of eight constituents, in contrast to synthetic items that have just one. According to the Linus Pauling Institute, "synthetic vitamin E is cheaper than d-alpha-tocopherol, or natural-source vitamin E, but only half as effective."
Step 3
Apply adhesive sheets to your scars overnight. Many of these products contain plentiful levels of vitamin E. Most large drug stores and specialist online retailers have them. The International Bibliographic Information on Dietary Supplements website reports that vitamin E on silicone gel sheets has been successful in scar treatment.
Step 4
Maintain a healthy diet. Consume water in place of other beverages to help flush your skin of toxins. Incorporate an increased amount of organic fruit--particularly oranges, cherries and bananas--into your daily diet regimen to obtain a greater level of general nutrition. These changes alone will not directly influence the fading of scars, but they will work with your vitamin E products to noticeably accelerate results.
Step 5
Pay close attention to the prominence of scarring. Fading scars at home is usually a slow process for the majority of people. Don't attempt to expedite results by ingesting greater volumes of vitamin E each day. The human body can only metabolize a certain amount on a daily basis.
