Easy Summer Makeup Tips

Summertime is the season where your skin simply seems to glow. Women usually keep makeup at a minimum and use a variety of products to keep cosmetics on during the heat. Sun protection and waterproof cosmetics are commonly used during the season. Add a few tips to your summer makeup routine to keep you looking fresh and beautiful.

Decrease Oil

Use a skin mattifying gel or serum to decrease oiliness or sheen. Apply the serum in the morning to the oil-prone regions of your face, generally the T-zone---nose, forehead and chin. Follow with loose powder as a base for makeup application.

Long-Lasting Lips

Wear long-wearing lipstick. Look for brands that promote stay-on power. Store your lipsticks in the refrigerator or freezer to avoid melting. Line lips with a nude lip liner before applying lipstick.

Waterproof Mascara

Use waterproof mascara when splashing in the pool or working out. Most cosmetic brands have at least one waterproof mascara. Remove using a cotton ball and eye makeup remover at the end of the day. Soak the ball in liquid remover and lightly massage over the eye. Use a cotton swab to get under the eye and remove any remaining mascara. Natural products, such as olive and jojoba oil, also work well to remove eye makeup.

Tinted Sunblock

Get a subtle glow and sun protection by creating your own tinted moisturizer. Mix a cream facial sun block with a few pinches of mineral makeup in the palm of your hand. Mix them together with a cotton swab. Massage into the face and neck for sun protection while outdoors.

Reuse Makeup

Don't toss dark bronzers and foundations at the end of the summer. Use the cosmetics as eyeshadows and to define cheekbones when hitting a night out on the town.

Keep It Simple

Remember that less is more during the hot months. Lip gloss, eyeliner and sun block are all you need to enjoy a day in the summer heat.
