While acne can appear on everyone, black people's skin can be especially oily and prone to breakouts, says "Cosmopolitan." According to "Essence," dark skin can also be left with acne scars and brown spots, known as hyperpigmentation. To help clear up existing blemishes, banish future ones and prevent scars from occurring, use products designed to work on both your skin type and tone. Talk to a doctor before using new products.

Bioré Blemish Fighting Ice Cleanser

Wash your face with an acne-fighting cleanser twice a day to help you avoid both blemishes and the scars they can leave behind. "Cosmopolitan" recommends Bioré Blemish Fighting Ice Cleanser, which contains salicylic acid to both control excess oil and get rid of pimples and blackheads. This product claims to give your skin a cooling sensation and clear your pores of the dirt, oil and impurities that can clog them and lead to breakouts. It also promises to tighten your pores to lessen future clogging. This oil-free cleanser contains lavender to calm your skin and eucalyptus to refresh and revive it, and it promises to leave your skin feeling soft and clean.

Clean & Clear Advantage 2-in1 Acne & Mark Eraser Kit

To fight acne and help prevent scarring at the same time, "Essence" suggests using the Clean & Clear Advantage 2-in-1 Acne & Mark Eraser Kit. This kit contains four items: a cleanser, a daily moisturizer, a treatment lotion and a scar cream. The Breakout Erasing Cleanser contains benzoyl peroxide to clear up pimples and clean deeply into your pores. The Daily Protecting Moisturizer has been formulated with SPF 15 to both nourish your skin and protect it from the sun damage that can make hyperpigmentation look worse, according to "Essence." The Nightly Mark Clearing Lotion works to combat acne and lessen the chances of scarring, and the Mark Erasing Spot Treatment helps to fade existing brown spots to even out your complexion.

Intraceuticals Clarity Blemish Repair Pen

If you have a giant pimple that looks red and inflamed, dermatologist Rosemarie Ingleton suggests, in "Essence," applying a benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid gel directly on top of it to reduce the inflammation. "Essence" recommends Intraceuticals Clarity Blemish Repair Pen, which contains both types of these medications. The product promises to calm redness, lessen your pimple's healing time, and quickly get rid of it without causing dry or flaking skin. The pen also has a replaceable tip to help you avoid contaminating the product, which can spread bacteria and potentially lead to more acne.
