Charlotte Motor Speedway is located just north of the Queen City, in Concord, North Carolina. It is home to six NASCAR series races and numerous other events each year. The track is 1.5 miles around and can hold 140,000 racing fans.
When out-of-town spectators come to Charlotte Motor Speedway, they have many lodging options close to the track. Several hotels are located on Bruton Smith Boulevard, one of the main roads leading to the speedway. But if you own an RV, or like to camp, you're in luck. There are 12 campgrounds within a short distance of the track.

Premium Camping

Charlotte Motor Speedway has two full-service premium RV camping areas. The
Tom Johnson Camping Center Racing Resort is located just down Bruton Smith Boulevard from the speedway. Each space has a paved pad and its own picnic table.
If you want to watch the action on the track without leaving your campsite, you can do it at the 600 Terrace. This campground is located in turn 2 of the speedway and includes extras like Wi-Fi and track passes. However, these luxuries come at a price; 2010 race weekend prices start at $6000.

Basic Camping

Charlotte Motor Speedway has six basic campgrounds around the racetrack. The Klondike Family Campground is an RV-only lot. There's an enforced "quiet time" and other rules that make this a family-friendly place.
Bring your RV or tent to Rock City Campground and you'll be close to a lot of the activities outside of the speedway. Ride the campground's tram to and from the track, and visit the souvenir village before going into the race.
It gets loud at the speedway, but you can find an escape at Tom Johnson's Morehead Farms Campground. This campground has a pond and wooded areas to enjoy.

Infield Camping

If you want to be as close as possible to the track, infield camping may be for you. Charlotte Motor Speedway has four infield campgrounds. The North Infield and
North Infield Trackside campsites are for RVs only, while the South Infield and
South Infield Trackside sites accept pop-ups, tents and vans.
Reservations are suggested for all of the infield campgrounds. Infield admission tickets to the race are required for all campers and are not included in camp space rentals.

Upgrades

Charlotte Motor Speedway offers two upgrades that campers can purchase. You can pre-order bundles of firewood and pick them up at the Tom Johnson Camping Center Racing Resort Office on your way to your campsite.
You can also purchase A Sani-Can Pump-Outs for your RV. Order this service in advance and the speedway will give you a voucher that you can redeem when you're ready to pack up and head home.

Camping Rules

Charlotte Motor Speedway requires all campers to abide by their camping rules. Campgrounds on property owned by the speedway are patrolled by Charlotte Motor
Speedway Public Safety, as well as officers from the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Department and the City of Concord.
Campers are not allowed to distribute marketing materials of any type from campsites. Speed limits must be observed, and inappropriate behavior is not allowed. Pets are allowed at campsites outside the speedway but must be on a leash when outside of an RV or other camping structure. Pets are not allowed in the infield campsites.
