There are no specific guidelines for exercising after lipo revision besides common recommendations that each patient should follow. All surgeons want their patients to attempt light exercise almost immediately after surgery, since staying in bed could create a risk of blood clot formation in either the legs or lungs. Depending on the extent of the surgery, the doctor might recommend confinement to your home and bed the day of surgery but release you to start walking the day after. Recovering liposuction surgery patients should have a companion with them for the first few days of post-operative exercising.

Step 1

Walk one to two days after lipo revision surgery. Walking around the house and short walks around the neighborhood are recommended by doctors as suitable beginning exercises during the first couple of days after liposuction.

Step 2

Ride a stationary bike or walk on a treadmill during the second week after your surgery. Do not operate either machine over 3 to 4 mph during this week.

Step 3

Add free weights or an exercise machine to your workout regimen during the third week of post-operative exercising. Do not lift more than 10 lbs. of weight during this time.

Step 4

Start running or aerobic exercise beginning the fourth week after your lipo revision. Begin working out three times a week for a minimum of 30 minutes to start, then work up to five to seven times a week, as recommended by the American Heart Association. Continue to wear your compression garment as directed by your doctor, especially during this type of impact exercise.

Step 5

Talk to your doctor to confirm that you may continue with your post-operative exercises after the fourth week. If you have followed all your doctor's directives and continue to wear your compression undergarments, regular exercises could continue after this time.

Things You'll Need
