When planning the color scheme for a toddler's bedroom, it is important to thoroughly consider your options. The colors in a toddler's room can greatly affect the child, by overstimulating or calming her. It can be a good idea to create a toddler's room that has room to grow with the child, instead of being overly baby-themed. In the end, this will save you time and money, as you will not need to update the room so soon. Also, a toddler's room should not be too overwhelming, but instead should have a calming feel. Along with the items in the room and the tidiness of it, colors can have a large impact on this. Using just one or two main colors throughout the room, possibly with an accent color, can be perfect to create a peaceful, calming environment for your toddler girl.

Pale Colors

In "The Complete Book of Color," author Suzy Chiazzari explains that babies and toddlers are more sensitive than older children to colors. Pale colors are better for this age group, as they give off gentler vibrations. Also, certain colors remind a toddler of her mother and are comforting to your toddler girl. These colors include peach, earth tones and pink. Chiazzari also says that babies and toddlers have soft pastel colors in their auras and that it is helpful for the toddler to be surrounded by similar shades. Also, you want to avoid very bright colors and strong patterns, as these can be overwhelming to small children.

Pink

Pink has long been considered a color appropriate for little girls, and there may be more to that than we realize. "Pink, peach, apricot, pale almond white, and lavender all provide love and security for the child," explains Chiazzari. Also, if the walls of your toddler girl's bedroom are painted green or blue, these colors can be too cold on their own. If you choose these colors for the walls, offset them with warm colors. Chiazzari adds that most shades of pale pink are relaxing and gentle, and are especially good for a young child's bedroom.

Gender Neutral

According to website Baby Bedroom Themes, gender-neutral color schemes can be perfect for your toddler girl, instead of always choosing tones associated with girls. Soft earth tones and white fit into this category, as well as green and yellow. The website also recommends adding wooden accents to the room to create a warmer, more peaceful environment, which could be incorporated through the furniture. You could play with darker or lighter wooden tones to achieve different looks.
