In recent years, beeswax has exploded in popularity as a natural skin care product. Its waterproof quality and ability to lock in moisture have made it a frequent ingredient in many lotions and lip balms. It also has anti-bacterial properties and is high in vitamin A, which aids cell development. As part of a regular exfoliating and moisturizing routine, lotions or creams containing beeswax can help relieve dry skin. Look for products that contain a large proportion of beeswax--it should be listed closer to the beginning of the ingredient list than the end.

Step 1

Exfoliate dry skin with a scrub to get rid of dead skin cells and flaky skin. You can buy a prepared scrub or make your own by mixing equal parts brown sugar and olive oil.

Step 2

Wash off the scrub, using a little soap if needed, and dry skin thoroughly.

Step 3

Apply a skin lotion or cream containing beeswax to the dry parts of your skin. Rub in thoroughly. If using on hands or feet, put on cotton gloves and/or socks if possible to help the lotion absorb into your skin.

Step 4

Repeat as needed. Exfoliation should only be necessary once or twice a week, but apply the lotion as often as your skin feels or looks dry. If the problem doesn't clear up in a few weeks, consider seeing a dermatologist to check for a more serious skin condition.

Things You'll Need

  • Pre-made exfoliating scrub or brown sugar and olive oil
  • Cream or lotion containing beeswax
  • Cotton gloves and socks if needed for hands and feet
