Cybex International Inc. is a manufacturer of fitness equipment. The company was founded in the late 1960's and was originally known as, "The Cybex Ergometer Company." Cybex has grown from its original manufacture of rehabilitation equipment to include multiple lines of strength and cardiovascular training equipment for commercial and home gym use. Using Cybex is equipment is as easy as long as you read the faceplate or follow console directions.
Cardiovascular Equipment
Step 1
Step onto the Cybex Arc Trainer. Place hands onto the handles of the machine. Activate the machine by pedaling forward or backward. Look at the console to see if it is activated once the machine begins to move. Once the console is activated, select your desired training program.
Step 2
Sit on the Cybex bike. Adjust the seat by either sliding the seat forward or backward on the recumbent bike, or lifting and lowering the seat on the upright bike. Place your hands on the handles for support. Activate the console of the bike by pedaling. Select your desired training program. Most Cybex bikes offer manual, random and hill training protocols.
Step 3
Step onto the Cybex treadmill. Straddle the conveyer belt and place both feet on the sideboards of the treadmill. Attach the lanyard to your clothing for safety. Select your training program or press "Quick Start" to start the conveyor belt. Place both feet on a slow moving treadmill to begin your training program.
Strength Training Equipment
Step 1
Select the desired piece of strength training equipment on the gym floor.
Step 2
Read the faceplate of the machine to determine what muscles are strengthened, how to use the machine and how to position yourself on the machine.
Step 3
Adjust the seat to accommodate your height.
Step 4
Position your knees or hips at any of the pivot points, indicated on most Cybex strength training equipment as a red or yellow sticker.
Step 5
Select your desired weight from the weight stack. Lift and lower the weight as indicated by the directions on the machine. Lower the weight slowly to prevent damage to the machine.
Tips and Warnings
- Determine your exercising heart rate by holding onto the silver plates located on the console of the machine. Check the weight stack on strength training equipment before beginning exercise.
- Keep hands clear of all moving parts on the machines. Consult with a physician before beginning any exercise program.
