The bareMineral makeup line is a talc-free, mineral makeup that uses natural earth-derived pigments to create the appearance of an even skin tone on the wearer's face. The Skin Cancer Foundation recommends bareMinerals because the makeup acts as a natural UV sunscreen. Zinc oxide and titanium oxide contained in bareMinerals act as physical barriers to the sun's harmful UV rays.
The bareMineral makeup line is designed for all skin types. The makeup is customizable, providing light coverage to heavy coverage, depending on how it is applied.
Makeup Brushes
Good quality makeup brushes are essential for applying bareMinerals makeup. Use high-quality, natural bristle makeup brushes to apply bareMinerals makeup. A high quality brush contains bristles that do not easily fall out of the brush. Natural bristle makeup brushes distribute the mineral makeup evenly over the skin for a smooth and natural-looking finish.
Keep your brushes clean for optimal performance. Your natural oils accumulate on the makeup brush, which makes makeup stick to and clump on the bristles. Soak your makeup brushes once every two weeks, or more often if necessary, in a cup of warm soapy water for fifteen minutes. Rinse the soap of the brush under a light flow of cool running water and let the brush air dry.
Primer
If you have large pores or deep lines on your face, smooth a makeup primer onto your skin before applying bareMinerals makeup. The primer fills in your pores and wrinkles to create a smooth skin surface for the mineral makeup to sit on. The bareMinerals makeup line recommends using their product called bareVitamins as a primer underneath their mineral makeup. According to bareMinerals, bareVitamins is composed of skin-nourishing vitamins and skin-smoothing glycolic acids.
Custom Shades
Mix different shades of bareMinerals makeup together to create the perfect shade for your skin. Test your custom shade on your jawline to determine if the color matches your skin well. When applied on your jawline, the mineral makeup should blend seamlessly into your skin, with no recognizable difference between the color of your neck and jawline.
Application
Apply bareMinerals makeup sparingly. Mineral makeup contains a high ratio of pigment---a little bit of the makeup goes a long way. To apply the makeup, pour a little bit of the powder into the lid of the jar. Dip your makeup brush into the lid and tap the brush on the side of the lid to release excess powder from the bristles. Sweep the brush onto your face in a circular motion, working the brush over your entire face. For light coverage, you are done. For heavier coverage, apply another layer of bareMinerals makeup.
Setting Your Makeup
Spray a fine mist of water, rose water (see Resources) or an herbal water mist onto your skin after you have applied your bareMinerals makeup. The fine mist of water settles the makeup onto your skin and makes the makeup look more natural.
