In terms of exercise equipment, you almost always get what you pay for. The Weslo Pursuit 360R recumbent exercise bike is a budget model, so it won't win any design awards and doesn't have very many features. But if you're looking for an inexpensive recumbent exercise bike for occasional light to moderate workouts, the 360R may be appropriate.
Resistance
The Weslo Pursuit 360 has the trademark Silent Magnetic Resistance that comes on almost all exercise equipment from ICON Health & Fitness, Weslo's parent company. The 360R has 10 levels of push-button adjustable resistance that you can control manually, or allow a pre-programmed workout to adjust it for you.
Workouts
The Weslo 360R has two pre-programmed pacer workouts: Climbing hills or intervals. The workouts operate in conjunction with a pacer indicator that prompts you to pedal faster--or back off a bit--for the best results.
Features
The Weslo 360R is a bargain-priced bike, so it's not loaded with numerous features. But the features it does have, including the LED pacer light and a built-in heart rate monitor, are useful workout tools. To use the heart rate monitor, place your thumb on the sensor located near the bottom of the bicycle's console.
Note that although the 360R's seat does adjust forward and back to accommodate users of different heights, it requires you to move the entire back half of the bike forward and back with the seat.
Display
The Pursuit 360R's display console shows your current speed, time elapsed, distance traveled, an estimate of calories burned and pedal rotations per minute.
Size and Capacity
The bike measures 59 inches long by 23 inches wide and 41 inches high. It has a maximum user weight limit of 250 lbs.
Recumbent Design
The 360R's recumbent design allows you to sit on a comfortably wide seat, instead of having all your weight compressed on a relatively narrow upright bike seat. It also offers the benefit of back support.
Price and Warranty
As of September 2010, the 360R regularly retails for about $250 from Bayou Fitness, but is often on sale for less. It's backed by a limited 90-day manufacturer's warranty.
