Children's tattoos, also known as temporary tattoos, adorn the skin without the permanence of a traditional ink and needle tattoo. Although they are often associated with children, temporary tattoos are also available in a variety of colors, styles and patterns for adults who are not quite ready to take the plunge into the real tattoo world. Temporary tattoos usually last between three and five days, but are easily removed if no longer desired.

Step 1

Dampen a washcloth with warm water. Add a squirt of liquid soap to the washcloth. Scrub the area of the tattoo site gently, using the washcloth. Continue scrubbing gently until the tattoo lifts away from the skin. Rinse the tattoo site under warm water after removal.

Step 2

Saturate a cotton ball with isopropyl alcohol if washing with soap and water does not do the trick. Rub the cotton ball over the temporary tattoo.

Step 3

Continue rubbing until the tattoo dissolves. Wash the area with soap and water to remove isopropyl alcohol residue.

Tips and Warnings

  • If you do not have isopropyl alcohol available, you can substitute baby oil.
  • Do not scrub the site of the tattoo vigorously during the removal process. Vigorous rubbing can cause irritation or abrasion.
