Acne marks and blemishes can leave permanent scars, especially if they become severely inflamed. Although some residual scars are more noticeable than others, even the faintest marks can make you feel uncomfortable. In some cases, the best treatment for mark and blemish removal is dermabrasion or laser resurfacing. However, there are other options to consider first that aren't quite as intrusive or expensive.

Home Remedy

Step 1

Combine the flour and turmeric with 1 tsp. of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Stir until the mixture turns into a consistently-textured paste.

Step 2

Add a tablespoon of yogurt and continue mixing until you have an even paste.

Step 3

Apply the mixture to any blemishes or marks on your skin. Allow it to set for 10 minutes and then rinse off and gently pat dry.

Step 4

Repeat once per day every day until the blemishes fade.

Products

Step 1

Use a skin lightener on marks or blemishes that are stubborn or hyperpigmented. Some bleaching creams require a prescription from your dermatologist, but some can be obtained over the counter. Apply the skin lightener onto the affected area according to the specific directions.

Step 2

Apply a series of light chemical peels to your face to help fade dark spots or blemishes. These treatments may be performed by your dermatologist, but milder products are also available over the counter. A minimum of four to six peels is recommended, according to AcneNet.

Step 3

Consult your dermatologist about a more in-depth procedure to remove any remaining marks or blemishes. Your options include laser resurfacing, a process that works by gently vaporizing unwanted skin tissue, and microdermabrasion, a process that essentially refinishes the surface of your skin.

Things You'll Need

  • 2 tbps. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. tumeric
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp. yogurt
  • Skin lightener
  • Chemical peel
