Removing wrinkles from clothes that come out of the dryer or closet wrinkled can be a laborious activity, especially if you have to pull out a hot iron on a humid summer day. A wrinkle reducer spray can help remove wrinkles in a matter of minutes without your having to lug out your ironing board. Before you reach for an expensive manufactured wrinkle reducer during your next shopping trip, consider making your own using products that you may already have.
Step 1
Pour 6 oz. of distilled water into a large measuring cup. Add 2 oz. of isopropyl alcohol to the measuring cup.
Step 2
Add 2 oz. of your favorite fabric softener to the mixture. Combine all of the ingredients together using a wire whisk.
Step 3
Pour the homemade wrinkle reducer into a 12 oz. spray bottle. Hang your wrinkled garment on a hanger.
Step 4
Spray both sides of the garment with the homemade wrinkle reducer, lightly dampening the fabric. Smooth out the damp wrinkles with your hand.
Step 5
Allow the garment to air dry for 10 to 15 minutes. Repeat the process whenever necessary.
Tips and Warnings
- If members of your family have an allergy to scented laundry detergents and fabric softeners, be sure to use a fabric softener that is fragrance-free. For a hint of fragrance, add a few drops of your favorite essential oil. If you do not have isopropyl alcohol available, substitute distilled white vinegar.
- Do not over saturate the garment with the wrinkle reducer spray. Over saturating will increase drying time.
