According to the National Institutes of Health, oxandrolone or Oxandrin belongs to a class of medications known as anabolic steroids. Oxandrolone is used to promote weight gain in patients suffering from chronic diseases, such as AIDS wasting syndrome, and in patients who have lost too much weight as a result of surgery. Oxandrolone is also used to treat bone pain in patients with osteoporosis. Other anabolic steroids may be used in place of oxandrolone.
Nandrolone

Nandrolone is used to treat anemia caused by kidney problems and in postmenopausal women to treat osteoporosis. Common side effects of nandrolone include breast growth, baldness, ankle swelling, insomnia, decreased sex drive, changes in skin color, acne, swelling of the feet, diarrhea, and nausea and vomiting. Adverse side effects of nandrolone include fertility problems, jaundice, deepening of the voice in women, liver damage and behavioral problems.
Oxymetholone
Drugs.com states that oxymetholone or Anadrol-50 is an anabolic steroid used to treat aplastic anemia and hyperplastic anemia caused by chemotherapy. Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, restlessness, euphoria, insomnia, acne and diarrhea. Adverse side effects include edema, persistent erections, urination problems, menstrual problems in women, deepening of the voice in women, baldness and yellowing of the skin and eyes.
Stanozolol
According to Drugs.com, stanozolol or Winstrol is an anabolic steroid used to treat hereditary angioedema, a condition causing swelling under the skin. Common side effects of stanozolol include headache, changes in sexual desire, insomnia, acne and swelling of ankles. Adverse side effects of stanozolol include liver damage, voice changes, menstrual irregularities in women, breast enlargement in women and baldness.
