Underwarm sweat is normal, but when excessive sweating occurs, it can be a sign of an underlying medical condition. MedlinePlus describes hyperhidrosis as a condition in which a person experiences uncontrollable sweat in any part of the body. Luckily, numerous home remedies are available to prevent or reduce the severity of underarm sweat.

Lifestyle Changes

According to MotherNature.com, dressing in light, loose-fitting and natural fabrics can help to absorb sweat and let cool air into the sweat glands, while removing warm air. Cutting down on the amount of spicy food consumed may also relieve excessive sweating. Hot foods make the stomach extremely hot, resulting in excess perspiration as the body attempts to lower its temperature.

Rubbing Alcohol

The 2005 issue of the "Natural Health Magazine" explains that using rubbing alcohol in any part of the body can help reduce excess sweat. The magazine recommends taking a cotton ball, soaking it with the rubbing alcohol and applying it to the area where excessive sweating is occurring. MotherNature.com says that the rubbing alcohol will help constrict the pores and prevent sweating for a few hours.

Antiperspirant

Antiperspirants are effective in blocking the ducts of the sweat glands and can be applied to any area on the body. It is important to note that antiperspirants are not deodorants; however some deodorants may contain antiperspirant properties. Antiperspirants that contain either aluminum salt or aluminum chlorohydrate are most successful in preventing sweat.
