The city of Miami is actually made up of many municipalities, one of which is the area of Kendall. Kendall is located southwest of Miami Beach. Though Miami is primarily known for its beautiful sandy white beaches, there are still a plethora of activities to be had at in the Kendall area.
Bowling
Miami is a hot, humid city pretty much year-round. Therefore if you are looking for an active, indoor activity to do while in the Kendall area, bowling is an option. There are standard bowling alleys, with lanes, a game room and a snack bar. However fancier bowling alleys are also blossoming in the area. Some of these are 18 or 21-years-old and up, have full-service bars and deejay's playing dance music--giving customers a bowling and nightclub sort of feel.
Ice Skating
Ice skating might seem like an unlikely activity to do in South Florida, but it is fun nonetheless. Kendall is actually home to Miami's main indoor ice rink. If you are looking to get out of the Florida heat and get a cardiovascular workout while you're at it, ice skating is your sport.
Parks
An easy and free thing to do in Kendall is frequent one of the local parks. Generally there are wide, open spaces to start up frisbee or tag football games. You can spread out a picnic blanket and bring a basket lunch. There are also usually picnic tables and areas with grills that are open to public use. Depending on the park there may even be tennis, racquetball or volleyball courts and baseball or football fields.
Tennis
Tennis is a popular option in Kendall, as one can get a workout and make it social all at the same time. Find and reserve a court at one of Kendall's many public parks then get a group of four together for some doubles.
Go to the Movies
Despite the fact that Florida is the Sunshine State, Kendall gets sporadically rainy weather--especially during the summer months. Going to the movies is a perfect thing to do on a rainy day. There are quite a few multiplexes in Kendall. One is even a specialized restaurant and theater. Guests can sit down to order a meal and a few drinks while watching a movie.
Horseback Riding
There are not a whole heck of a lot of places to horseback ride in Miami, but Kendall is one of them. In addition to being able to ride there, there are also horse shows and races throughout the year. The facility also hosts rodeos and concerts as well.
