The Texas coast stretches 500 miles and is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Whether you are looking to stay in the northern region of the coast or are looking for some relaxation towards the Mexican border, you will find camping off the Texas coast memorable and exciting. From surfing, fishing and boating to hiking, biking and beach combing, there is something for everyone.

Mustang Island

Mustang Island is a barrier island in the central part of the Texas coast that stretches 18 miles. With average annual temperatures hovering around 72 degrees Fahrenheit, you can take your vacation any time of year and still enjoy all of the outdoor activities Mustang Island has to offer. While on the island, you can fish, swim, kayak, surf, bike or simply take a stroll along the waters. Mustang Island State Park is on the southern end of the island and provides camping sites with full hook-ups. These sites are first-come, first-served. I.B. Magee Beach Park located on the north end provides primitive camping accommodations on the beach and full hook-up sites with electric and water.

San Jose Island

San Jose Island is another barrier island located just north of Mustang Island off the Texas coast. Visitors can enjoy the 21 miles of white, sandy beaches while walking the coastline birdwatching and combing the beach for shells and sand dollars. After a day on the sand, campers can get out in the gorgeous clear waters for some deep-sea fishing or a ferry tour of the nearby islands. While there are no camping facilities on the island, campers can take a short trip to Rockport. There you can find full hook-up sites at Goose Island State Park, Lagoons RV Resort or Sandollar Resort Motel and RV Park.

Corpus Christi

Corpus Christi sits just west of Padre Island and south of Rockport. With its white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, visitors can take in the scenery and all of Corpus Christi's indoor and outdoor activities. Campers can ride the waves on their surfboards and bodyboards or make sandcastles and walk along the shores. After a day at the beach, campers can play tennis at the area tennis courts, enjoy some tee time at the golf courses, grab a skateboard and hit the skate park, or walk around the museums or shopping malls. Some of the area camping accommodations include Colonial del Rey, Padre Palms RV Park and Greyhound RV Park.

Brownsville

Brownsville is located in the southern portion of the Texas coast near the Mexican border. The city has a strong history and heritage that shows through with its combination of Texan and Mexican cultures. From its music and cuisine to tropical beach atmosphere, you'll find Brownsville a perfect destination for your next trip. You can enjoy any of your favorite outdoor water activities on the beach, hit the local golf courses, or walk around the town shopping and enjoying the sights. Camping accommodations can be found throughout Brownsville such as Riverbend Resort, Winter Haven Resort, Breeze Lake Campground and Rio RV Park.

Freeport

Freeport is located in the northern portion of the Texas coast and is considered the place "Where Fun Happens." Like most of the Texas coast, visitors can take advantage of the many outdoor water activities in the area. From fishing, boating and water skiing to golfing and walking around the museums, there is plenty to keep you active. Just a few minutes northeast of Freeport, you can set up camp right by the beach at The Breeze Hotel & RV Park in Surfside Beach or just a couple of blocks off the Gulf at Surfside Beach RV Park.
