KOA is nationwide chain of RV-friendly campgrounds. You can camp at one of 17 KOA facilities throughout Michigan's Upper and Lower peninsulas. These campgrounds provide a number of amenities designed to add comfort and convenience to your camping experience, including pools, camp stores, laundry facilities, playgrounds and recreation areas. Michigan KOAs are dispersed across the diverse Michigan landscape, sitting on the 3,200-mile-long Great Lakes shoreline as well as near inland rivers, lakes and in forest settings.

Lake Michigan

The Muskegon and Traverse City KOAs provide close access to Lake Michigan as well as the dune-covered coastline. Hiking and sea kayaking opportunities abound on the west coast. The Muskegon KOA is located between two private lakes. Here you can camp in a tent, RV or lakefront cabin. The Traverse City KOA is near Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, the Leelanau Peninsula and numerous festivals in downtown Traverse City. The campground has a heated swimming pool, mini golf course and both campsites and cabins.

Lake Huron

Both the Oscoda and Port Huron KOAs are located on Lake Huron, Michigan's sunrise coast. At the Oscoda location, you can take advantage of canoeing opportunities on the scenic AuSable River or stay around the camp where you can enjoy the pool or watch the kids have fun on the giant, inflatable jumping pillow. Port Huron, in southern Michigan, is near horse stables, where you can spend the day on horseback, hiking trails beginning within the camp and boat tours around the port area.

Inland Lower Peninsula

Centrally located in Michigan's Lower Peninsula, the Higgins Lake/Roscommon KOA is close to abundant fishing, swimming, boating, hiking and biking opportunities. Higgins Lake is a sandy, clear lake with a productive fishery and scenic forested surroundings. The KOA campground has both campsites and cabins as well as yurts for rent. You can explore the area on one of the camp's rental bikes or test your courage on the 25-foot-high rock wall located on the camp premises. Activities such as outdoor movies and campfire social events are common throughout the camping season.

Mackinaw Straits

The Mackinaw Straits are the gateway to Michigan's Upper Peninsula. At the tip of the Lower Peninsula, the Mackinaw City KOA has a pool and shower facilities. On the other side of the Mackinaw Bridge, the St. Ignace KOA has similar accommodations, a swimming pool and a mini golf course. Both campgrounds offer campsites and cabins and are located near ferry services to Mackinaw Island.

Upper Peninsula

The Upper Peninsula offers close access to Michigan's most remote and scenic areas. The Manistique KOA is located on the peninsula's Lake Michigan shore and offers campsites and a motel for guests. A swimming pool and wireless Internet are provided on site, and you can purchase firewood from the camp. Farther north at the Newberry KOA, you can choose between a campsite or cabin, rent bicycles or play mini golf. The Newberry location is also close to Tahquamenon Falls State Park.
