If there was ever a city that is the place to do wild and crazy things, New York City would take top honors. The trick is to do wild activities while maintaining good health and maybe even getting in a good dose of fitness. With five boroughs to choose from, New York will not disappoint in this category.

Dance Like a Wild Child

One of the best workouts you can do is a session of dancing. It will keep you fit and trim and give you some of the hottest legs in New York City. Take it one step further and get a little wild by trying out some pole dancing. Once reserved for strippers only, pole dancing has become a new craze for people to learn. Over in Brooklyn in the Bay Ridge area is Exotic Curves Pole Fitness Studios. It offers several pole dancing classes along with other dance lessons in Zumba and even belly dancing.

You Only Eat Once

Sushi is considered by many as one of the most nutritious foods to eat, especially in the case of sashimi, where it is just raw fish with no rice. So take it a step further and have one of the wildest sashimi dishes around--fugu or blow fish. Yes, this is the fish that, if it is cut wrong, could kill you. Only a limited amount of restaurants dare serve fugu in the United States and several of them are in New York, including Bond Street and Morimoto.

Cruise to the Music

In the middle of one of the world's biggest concrete jungles, people are busy walking, cabbing or taking the subway everywhere. But Manhattan is also an island surrounded by a river and an ideal place to take a cruise while rocking out to some wild music. You'd expect to find Rockin' the River Cruises on the Mississippi, as opposed to the Hudson. Get a workout and dance to Buckwheat Zydeco or The Smithereens while cruising past Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty.

Climb a Rock

Ditch your boring workout on some machine in a regular gym and go rock climbing instead. It's a wild way to get fit or stay in shape but rock climbing is an exhilarating workout. The Brooklyn Boulder Rock Gym is highly recommended by many New Yorkers, so give rock climbing a try. It has 18,000 square feet of boulders and walls for you to scale and climb.

From the Jungle to the Wild

New York City is so filled with man-made wonders that people frequently forget to get back to nature and the wild. The zoo is a top place to appreciate the natural wonders of the world and right in the city is The Bronx Zoo. The zoo offers up lions and tigers and snakes and is a place to be enjoyed by both kids and adults. The Bronx Zoo also offers a Help Wildlife program that teaches people how to save endangered wildlife.
