Oconomowoc is a small community in Wisconsin. The town is home to a number of assisted living facilities and retirement communities. These communities and facilities range from from institutions founded for Christian Scientists to independent living for seniors of limited financial means. Oconomowoc retirement communities provide apartments for citizens older than 55, while assisted living facilities are staffed with nurses and 24-hour emergency response personnel for those who require medical care.

Lake Terrace Apartments, Berkshire in Oconomowoc and Cedar Ridge are some of the many retirement communities in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. Lake Terrace Apartments is operated and maintained by the Lutheran Homes of Oconomowoc. Lake Terrace offers six floor plans at a lake-front complex to applicants 55 and older. Berkshire in Oconomowoc is an 85-apartment complex with full-time staff and one and two-bedroom units available to adults 55 and older. Cedar Ridge Foundation offers independent retirement living for Christian Scientists.

Assisted Living

Assisted living facilities serving Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, include Shorehaven Tower and Wilkinson Woods. Shorehaven Tower is operated and maintained by Lutheran Homes of Oconomowoc. Shorehaven's medically trained staff is on call 24 hours a day. Wilkinson Woods is an assisted living facility that is part of the statewide Laureate Group. In addition to a nursing staff and 24-hour emergency response team, Wilkinson Woods has several volunteers.

Medical Assistance

Wilkinson Woods provides residents medical amenities. residents can get help with with bathing, dressing, grooming and administration of medication. Residents undergo regular blood pressure checks and receive immunizations. Shorehaven Tower offers its residents many of the same medical amenities as Wikinson Woods, including assistance with personal hygiene, administration of medication, medical monitoring, immunizations, podiatry services and physical and mental health therapies.

Amenities

Residents of Lake Terrace apartments have access to an art studio, woodworking shop, library, billiards hall, game room and organized athletic activities with other residents. Wilkinson Woods provides residents a barbershop, country store, wellness facility, banking and a chapel. Residents of Berkshire in Oconomowoc have access to underground parking, community rooms, social activities and an exercise room.

Rates

Standard monthly rates at the retirement homes and assisted living centers of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, are based upon services required. In 2010, the largest apartments at Shorehaven Tower cost $4,185 monthly; the smallest cost $2,112. Optional services cost extra. Charges are applied to assistance such as diabetes care--$250 monthly--and daily housekeeping--$185 monthly. Berkshire in Oconomowoc is a low-income facility with rates adjustable per income. It doesn't accept individuals with an annual income of more than $29,700 in 2010. Monthly Wilkinson Woods rates started at $2,995 in 2010.
