Chaska, Minnesota is a small town southwest of the Twin Cities, nestled in the Minnesota River Valley. Chaska provides a series of physical activities for seniors to avail of, located in The Community Center in Chaska. At the Center, seniors will find a variety of exercise classes, five days a week in mornings, and amenities so they can achieve an active lifestyle.

Yoga

Yoga is a sport that is amenable to seniors, particularly because gentle yoga focuses on breathing and meditation, and yoga can easily be modified to accommodate physical disabilities and any problems that affect mobility like arthritis or frailty. The Community Center in Chaska offers yoga classes specifically for seniors, even offering modified poses that utilize a chair so seniors can achieve the postures with ease. For the more adventurous and physically fit, there is an all-ages yoga class also available at the community center.

Swimming

Swimming is a low-impact exercise available to seniors in Chaska. There is a swimming exercise program for seniors called SilverSneakers Splash. It focuses on strength training and improving range of motion at the Chaska community center. For seniors seeking out community pools to exercise on their own, Chaska has a lap pool, leisure pool with slides, hot spas and an outdoor splash pad.

Cardio

As part of the SilverSneakers exercise series at the Chaska community center, seniors can enroll in one of two cardio classes. Cardio Circuit focuses on upper body strength and endurance, in the form of a zero-impact aerobics class. Cardio Fit is a thirty-minute, low-impact aerobics class, followed by fifteen minutes of mat work. It is considered more physically challenging than the Cardio Circuit course.

Muscular Strength and Range of Movement

Muscular Strength and Range of Movement (MSROM) is another SilverSneakers program. It is particularly designed to help seniors maintain their independence, with exercises improving range of motion and flexibility so they can continue to achieve daily tasks. The class uses a chair for some exercises, making the class suitable for seniors of most abilities.

Seniorcize

Seniorcize is an aerobics class for seniors in Chaska. It is considered low-impact, so it is not suitable for all seniors. The class provides a cardio workout in addition to improving muscle tone with hula hoops, tennis balls and free weights.
