Washington State puts forward many different children's holiday activities all year long. From Christmas celebrations in winter to 4th of July activities in summer, there always seems to be something for kids to do. Seattle, one of the largest cities in Washington, hosts a lot of these activities, although many can also be found in rural areas as well.

Function

Washington State offers different children's holiday activities in several areas to function as community events, bringing community members together during different times of the year. The function of these children's holiday activities is also to boost sales in the stores of some areas.

Types

Many cities have annual Christmas activities, like Seattle's Candy Cane Lane event, which is the city's neighborhood light show. In addition to Christmas activities, other Washington towns have holiday celebrations, like Yakima's 4th of July celebration, A Day of Family Fun. Fall celebrations, like the one Stocker Farms puts on, are another example of Washington State's children's activities. This fall celebration has activities such as a corn maze and bounce houses for kids.

Time Frame

Washington State children's holiday activities will typically fall within a month of the actual holiday. For example, the Snohomish County corn maze is open during the fall season, while the Seattle Candy Cane Lane celebration begins after Thanksgiving and runs until the new year.

Benefits

Benefits of these celebrations are many. Holiday activities for children help to get everyone in the spirit of the holiday. These celebrations bring excitement and joy for both children and adults and create a holiday spirit throughout the year. Holiday activities help children to meet one another and get to know other kids their age within the community.

Considerations

Prior to heading out to a children's holiday activity, take a few things into consideration. First, check the weather report and dress yourself and your children accordingly. It is always wise to dress in layers in case the weather warms up. Also, with small children in tow, you may want to avoid large crowds and visit these holiday activities during the week if possible.
