Fishing and party boats exist along the Atlantic Ocean coast, with some the Ocean City, Maryland area. These fishing and party boats range in size, but they all give people a chance to get some fresh ocean air and have an enjoyable day of fishing. Most of the boats focus on fishing before partying, but all are geared to make sure anglers of all ages and skill level have a good time, whether they're fishing for a couple of hours or spending 24 hours on the boat.
Ocean City Girl
Ocean City Girl is a 50-foot fishing boat. It has a large deck area for fishing and is Ocean City's only boat licensed to carry more than six people. Anglers can fish for tuna and marlin. Ocean City Girl's special permit allows parties to catch one bluefin tuna per fisherman and at least two yellowfin tuna per angler. Most boats only allow four fish per boat to be landed. Tuna and marlin fishing trips are 12 hours from dock to dock. Other fishing trips on Ocean City Girl include eight-hour deep sea trolling for those looking to catch a variety of fish, shark fishing and eight-hour deep sea bottom fishing, which allows angler to go after black sea bass. The latter is targeted for young fishers and families.
The 12-hour Tuna and Marlin and the 12-hour Shark fishing trips cost $1,595 for up to six people and $120 for each additional person. The eight-hour Deep Sea Trolling is $1,195 for up to six people and $110 for each additional person. The eight-hour Deep Sea Bottom fishing trip is $795 for up to six people and $95 for each additional person. The Ocean City Girl can hold up to 20 passengers.
Judith M
Judith M is a 75-foot fishing boat. It sails from Bahina Marina in Ocean City, Maryland. The high-tech wheel house has color fish finders and GPS chartplotters. The cabin has a full-stocked galley with hot and cold food, soda, wine, beer and candy. The cabin also has heat and air-conditioning.
The Judith M fishes primarily for black sea bass and tog, along with triggerfish, trout, flounder, croakers and blues. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, Judith M has two daily half-day trips; one from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and the second goes from 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. There is also a nightly oceanfront narrated cruise from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. This cruise runs until Labor Day weekend. Once the calendar turns to November, Judith M will sail on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The boat is docked during December.
Tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis and can be purchased in advance. There are no reservations during the summer months, but they can be made in the fall, winter and spring. The cost is $42 per person and $22 for kids under the age of 12.
The Angler Headboat
The Angler Headboat is 65-foot fiberglass fishing and party boat. It specializes in fishing for seasbass, croaker, trout, ling cod, toutog and mackerel. The trip comes with fishing rods, reels and bait. Box lunches can be purchased from the Angler restaurant. The boat sails around Assateague Island and moves through Ocean City's inlet.
The Angler sails from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily during the spring and fall. The boat makes daily trips in the summer too, from 7:30 a.m. to between 1:30 and 2 p.m. The cost is $60 per person during both seasonal runs.
Along with the Angler's daily fishing trips, there are a few, longer additional trips offered. There is an offshore overnight canyon trip during the fall. It's a 24-hour tour that sets sail at noon. Targeted fish include tuna, swordfish, mahi-mahi and tilefish. The trip costs $300 a person with a limit of 20 people. During the winter, the Angler offers 18-hour trips for giant seabass. The ship sails 50 to 80 miles offshore. The cost is $175 per person.
Morning Star
The Morning Star runs fishing trips almost year-round from the Ocean City Fishing Center in West Ocean City, Maryland. The 55-foot fiberglass fishing and party boat holds 22 anglers per trip, so there's plenty of room for everyone to fish. Anglers are encouraged to bring a 20- to 50-pound tackle and their own cooler and ice. Tackles are available for rental. Electric reels and GPS devices are prohibited. Sea bass is the main attraction aboard the Morning Star.
Tickets cost $100 per person on Sunday through Friday. Trips run from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Saturdays, the cost is $125 per person and trips go from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Each angler will have his or her own assigned spot on the boat.
The Ocean Princess
The Ocean Princess is located just five minutes from the inlet and ocean in Ocean City. The fishing boat offers trips of different lengths and different types to satisfy every type of angler. There's a half-day trip, which is geared towards families who'd rather not spend all day on a boat. This trip costs $42 for adults and $22 for children 12-years-old and under. The four-hour trips go from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. They are available Memorial Day weekend until mid to late September.
The Ocean Princess also offers night fishing trips on select nights during the summer months. The primary fish caught during these trips is sea bass. The Ocean Princess also offers eight-hour wreck (spring and fall months) and tautog (winter and early spring) fishing trips and a 12-hour wreck fishing adventure.
