Alpine Valley Theatre, located in East Troy, is one of Wisconsin's premier outdoor music venues. The theater offers seating for 40,000 people in a combination of pavilion and lawn seating. Although there is a wonderful party atmosphere once you get to the theater, it does not offer camping on site. If you're looking to make your Alpine Valley experience a full outdoor weekend, there are several campgrounds in the area.

Location

Alpine Valley is set in a fairly remote area in southern Wisconsin. Although this is a wonderful area for enjoying outdoor concerts without upsetting residential neighborhoods, it does make finding a campground that is close a little bit difficult. When you are looking for a nearby campground, some towns you might want to check out include Eagle, Mukwanago, Delavan, Elkhorn and Lake Geneva.

Season

Because of the nature of concerts at Alpine Valley, the risk is low for having to camp when the weather is extremely cold. Most concerts at Alpine Valley occur between June and August to guarantee the weather will not be too cold for the performers and their equipment. On the other hand, this means you might need to plan for camping in warm weather.

In recent years, southern Wisconsin has seen above average temperature and rainfall. The climate in southern Wisconsin tends to be quite humid in the summer, and that means it will often feel warmer than it is. Because of this, it may be beneficial to find a campground that offers a lake or swimming area to cool off in.

Campgrounds

Within 30 minutes of Alpine Valley, there are several privately owned campgrounds. These sites have both tent camping and RV camping. In addition, there is an RV-only campground in nearby Whitewater. These campgrounds offer a wide variety of amenities including electrical and primitive campsites, boat rentals, fishing, game rooms and an assortment of sports activities. If you are looking for a family friendly campground or at least a peaceful evening, many campgrounds publicly advertise that partying and drunkenness are not allowed.

State Parks

Wisconsin has a wonderful assortment of state parks and state recreation areas, many of which are located in close proximity to Alpine Valley. These campgrounds offer an affordable camping experience with beautiful landscaping. Many locations offer quiet zones for those who would like to enjoy the outdoors without distraction before and after the concert. Some of the state recreation areas also offer ATV trails, hiking, and even access to fly hobby aircraft.

Transportation

If you are hoping to avoid driving to and from Alpine Valley, the best option would be to find a taxi or limousine company that offers shuttles to the theater at a fixed rate. This will save your parking fees as well as allowing everyone in your group to have a great time without worrying who has to stay awake after a long day in the sun to drive back to your campground.

Many times, these services will offer a per-person price rather than charging per mile driven. There are some campgrounds that offer shuttle service to Alpine Valley, but most do not. If you do choose to drive, you are sure to be in for a great time as the parking lot at Alpine Valley is considered by many to be a festive warm-up for the concert.
